Forget The Casinos, See The Real Macau

It didn’;t take long for tiny Macau, officially a “;Special Administrative Region of China”; —; whatever that is —; to overtake Las Vegas as the biggest gambling city in the world. The real shame is how many of those 20 million who hit the tables so far this year didn’;t get a chance to see the real Macau, the first and last European colony in China. Given its history, it’;s no surprise how much there it to see there, from the ruins of St. Paul’;s Cathedral built back in 1598, to Mount Fortress, the sprawling fort with amazing views of the casino cityscape (pretend to blow up the Sands with a cannon!). There’;s plenty more to see, especially good to know after you blow your travel budget at the craps table before lunch.
